TURNING ONE IS SO MUCH FUN!!!
First Birthday sessions are so much fun. I also like to call them the catch and release session. (You will understand during the session.) Babies have so much personality at this age, their little giggles, their peak -a-boos, and I just love capturing all their cuteness and their expressions. I love to style your smash set to match baby’s birthday party theme, or room theme, but you can choose any color scheme or theme you’d like. I have an always-growing selection of backdrops, banners, poms and paper fans to dress up the background and you are welcome to bring any balloons or party decorations to help personalize your set. The further in advance you schedule your session, the more time we have to plan! Don’t worry if you prefer not to do a cake smash or it is not possible due to an allergy. The sky is the limit with Cake Smash Themes! Fruit Smash, Strawberry Smash, and Watermelon, Pasta smashes are also a great cake smash alternative. Couture dresses are also available as an add on.
We do have a full forest outside so we can also offer indoor/outdoor sessions or just outdoor sessions. Cake tastes as good outside as it does inside if you would prefer an outdoor session.
We offer all different types of outdoor props such as bridges, ladders, boxes, flower carts, and tree trunks around the yard to have the perfect session for you.
TIPS TO HELP YOU PLAN YOUR CAKE SMASH SESSION
- If you would like to use the photos at your child’s birthday party I recommend scheduling your session when baby is 11 months old. This will give you time to make prints and order any products that you would like to have available or as great party favor gifts or grandparent gifts.
- For the cake design buttercream or whipped icing is going to be the smoothest, making it easiest to smash. I do recommend several cake designers.
- Bring some puffs or small snacks that baby likes. We can use them before they get to eat the cake if they need a break between outfits or sets. We can also stick them in the cake if your baby is not smashing right away.
- Make sure to bring their bottle or cup.
- If you have your cake the day before your session, please remember to take it out of the refrigerator a few hours in advance so that the icing can soften.
- This is going to be messy. So be sure to bring an extra outfit for baby to go home in.
- A question I often get asked is about providing a cake, since there are so many different food allergies out there these days (dairy, wheat, sugar, etc) I always ask that my clients provide the cake.
